The Board and staff of East of Scotland Jazz Education, which runs the RMJSC, are committed to providing the safest possible environment for the jazz summer course. We continue to monitor safety guidance and evaluate the situation on an ongoing basis, in order to protect the health and well-being of all involved in the course. Any changes to our proposed approach, necessitated by external factors, will be published on this page.

We plan to take the following steps, in collaboration with the team at Strathallan School:

1) requiring all course participants and staff to produce evidence of a negative lateral flow test (taken on the day of arrival) when they register at the start of the course. Please note that if anyone tests positive for COVID at any stage during the RMJSC, it will be necessary for them to leave the course, in compliance with the requirements of the venue.

2) encouraging all course participants and staff to take further lateral flow tests during the period of the course;

3) housing all residential participants and staff in single study bedrooms;

4) using teaching spaces for plenary and break-out sessions which allow for a minimum of two metres distance between players / singers;

5) providing hand sanitiser at the entrance to each building and classroom;

6) ensuring sole use of music stands in all sessions: if you have a music stand which you can bring, please do so, ensuring that it is clearly labelled with your name. If you do not have a music stand of your own, or if your travel arrangements make it impossible for you to bring one, PLEASE LET US KNOW. We can arrange to provide you with one for the duration of the course.

7) having a socially distanced seating area available for the final concert on the afternoon of Friday 8th July, and keeping a record (for a maximum of 30 days, after which the data will be deleted) of all those who attend the concert.
